A Little Bit About Us
Teach Leanbh is a privately owned Montessori School and Day Care Centre. Opened in 2001, it is purpose built, award winning facility that caters for Babies, Toddlers, Pre-Montessori, Montessori and After School children.
We run:
- Full Day Care
- Part Time Care
- After School Care
- Sessional
- We also participates in the ECCE Free Pre-School Scheme and Cets Scheme.
Since our inception, the facility has expanded in size with the growing needs of our community. In 2008, an extension was added to facilitate our expanding customer base. During this time, the addition of a large car park ensured that parents could collect there children with ease and safety. Also, to ensure that children could maximise their time outside and in particular, during wet weather, an all-weather foam area was installed, which allowed children to play outdoors during damp weather.
To date, Teach Leanbh has been awarded:
2013 - Platinum Award for Healthy Incentive Programme.
2012 - Gold Award Healthy Incentive Programme.
2009 - Award for Outstanding Achievement from Portobello College, Dublin.
2008 - All Ireland Centre of Excellence Award.
2004 - An Enterprise Award for Small Businesses.
In 2012, Margaret once again invested in her facility. She felt that it was so important for the children to be able to explore and experience their natural environment, which inspired her to build a Sensory Garden. Recently Margaret decided that she would once again like to expand her natural area -
"We are lucky enough to have a privately owned, woodland on the perimeter of our facility, which we would like to use to create a natural risk rich environment that will facilitate cognitive, social and motor development. From the garden, there will be a controlled route through a young deciduous forest, leading to a natural playscape, housed within a secure evergreen woodland. Due to our growing numbers and changes within the childcare sector, we feel that the addition of a risk rich environment would add a significant developmental aspect to our service and that it could improve the quality of children's learning and development through the Aistear framework of Well-being, Communicating, Identity and Belonging and Exploring and Thinking in a natural environment."
Child Development and Education is forever at the core of Teach Leanbh's service. We continuously strive to move with the times and modernise our facility, ensuring that children receive the best possible care and start to their educational and physical development, in accordance with the curriculum framework set out by Aistear and Siolta for early childhood development.
